Scouting Report for Jeremiyah Love

Jeremiyah Love is a true bellcow back with an explosive rushing and receiving skillset that will make him a productive offensive force in both phases of the game.

Love was a 4-star recruit and top 100 player in the 2023 class, choosing Notre Dame over other elite schools, including Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, and Texas A&M. In his senior season, he earned Under Armour All-American accolades in no small part due to his 6A State Championship performance, where he put up 317 all-purpose yards and 5 total TDs. Love carried forth this dominance into his college career, where he totaled 3,476 scrimmage yards and 42 TDs, earning Heisman consideration for his 2025 output.

Explosiveness is the name of Love's game. He led all backs in the class with 23 15+ yard runs in 2025, thanks to his combination of speed, explosiveness, and lateral agility. Love is a full-stack athlete who will blow up the Combine (if he chooses to participate). His athleticism is noticeably translatable to the next level when you take a look at his film--you'll see him make defenders miss in the open field with his suddenness, and rarely does he get caught from behind on breakaway runs. He has a nasty toolkit of open-field moves, including jukes, stiff arms, hard cuts, spins, or even a hurdle (he really loves the hurdle). Even more impressive is how he combines his burst with his vision. He diagnoses rushing lanes quickly, and his lateral agility allows him to quickly make his way to open space where he is able to make defenders miss in close quarters. When he picks his hole and hits it, he has the strength to run through arm tackles and carry the momentum his acceleration provides him to the second level. His contact balance is good in the open field; he often bounces off tacklers who fail to wrap him up without losing much momentum. Love does a remarkable job of protecting the ball; he only has one fumble on 433 career carries.

Love has somewhat of a lean, upright frame and his 2024 film raised concerns over his pad level. This, however, has become less of an issue in 2025; he's become a bit more of hard-nosed rusher this year with the way he finishes his runs and maintains a lower pad level through the LOS.

Love's receiving skillset is what sets him apart from other elite backs in recent years. He has the capacity to run various routes out of the backfield beyond just checkdowns and screens. He runs a nice angle route and is capable of winning on wheel routes and out routes as well. Love has taken a fair amount of snaps in the slot and I wouldn't be surprised to see teams look to expand upon his experience there. Love is a hands-catcher who drops just 6.1% of his career targets, making him a reliable threat on every passing down.

While he's a great asset in the passing game, he can also become a liability when asked to stand in and pass protect. He's willing, but not always able to take on free rushers due to his taller, leaner frame. His technique needs refinement and we can expect that to be a focal point for his development when he enters the league given that it is something that could keep him off the field on downs where he'd otherwise be a threat.

Jeremiyah Love is best suited for a zone run scheme in the NFL, similar to the one he has played in at Notre Dame, where he can create and take advantage of rushing lanes thanks to his electric one-cut ability. His elite athleticism, receiving ability, and inside-out zone run bell cow ability lead me to believe he could excel in a situation similar to what we see with Bijan Robinson in Atlanta.
